Christmas 2008

Another busy year has passed, and we are counting our blessings!

Carter is 6 now and in first grade. He enjoys school and says his favorite subject is science. This summer he went to “Liquids Class” at the children’s museum and Zoo School and loved every minute. He played soccer in the spring and t-ball during the summer. He recently became a cub scout, earning his first patches.

Cooper is 3 and newly potty trained. He is so proud and Mommy and Daddy are excited, too! He loves being Carter’s shadow when he is tolerated. He still plays tractors, but his greatest love is dinosaurs. He can pronounce the names better than we can. He tells us he’s the “cutest boy in the world,” and we have a hard time arguing.

Cameron is 19 mos. and gives us a run for our money. Climbing is his favorite activity: desks, tables, countertops, and even made his way into standing in the toilet water. We run around after him telling him, “This is not your room,” like in Turner and Hooch. His smile melts our hearts though. He is beginning to talk, and we are confident that his disposition will change when he can effectively communicate with us! His favorite toys are pop cans, phones, and mommy’s alarm clock unplugged from the wall!

Jason is still happily working for Kinesio USA. Did you see Kerri Walsh wearing Kinesio tape in the Olympics? When the announcers started talking about Kinesio tape, I started screaming. Jason flew up two flights of stairs, thinking someone was hurt! Needless to say, his company is doing well! He has done quite a bit of traveling this year; 19 days out of October which about did me in, but we made it. He is the president of the Galva Sports Wall of Fame committee and will teach Geography at BHE in the spring. He called Geneseo football games on the radio and has been doing some basketball games, too. He has had to pick up some of my slack this fall, which I am grateful for. His boys keep him hopping with light saber fights and wrestling matches.

I took a full-time job teaching Pre-K in Kewanee in August. I’m really enjoying being out of the house after being mostly a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. My students and coworkers have made the transition easy (and the paycheck doesn’t hurt either!) It was hard to leave the boys full-time, but we are very lucky to have my mom keep them, and we have a wonderful sitter. I am still involved with daycare trainings and Library Board. I started working toward my Master’s Degree in Reading (yes I’m crazy) and have enjoyed being a student again. I’ve taken up walking and Weight Watchers in preparation for my sister’s wedding next August, and I’ve lost over 30 pounds. Whoo hoo!

We live a hectic and chaotic life but are so grateful for it. Wishing you and yours health and happiness for the coming year!

July 21, 2008

Summer is flying by. June wasn't so bad but since the 4th, July is coming to a close already. We've been keeping busy (Chicago, St. Louis, field trips) and enjoying ourselves. Our goals for Carter this summer include shoe tying and bike riding. Haven't gotten there yet. We had to get him a new bike because he has grown! Cooper is going to be three but the Terrible Twos are still going strong. He is such a charmer though and the most polite child. He is Carter's echo and shadow. Cameron tries to be Cooper's echo and shadow but receives more protest. He started walking at a little over 12 mos. and at 14 1/2, he is RUNNING! Has to to keep up with his brothers I guess!

We're looking forward to school starting. Carter to first grade and Mommy to Pre-K! Really looking forward to the paycheck to make up for all the lesson planning and working in my room I've done this summer. My first graduate school class has kept me busy, too. Only 23 days left! Yikes!
